Great tasting ales around the Broads
Norfolk is well known for the quality of its food and drink. Many of the county’s pubs and restaurants dish up locally sourced produce, and culinary festivals take place in various towns and villages throughout the summer months.
As well as the crab, lobster and fresh fruit and veg that Norfolk is famous for, the county is fast making a name for itself in the world of ale. A growing number of craft breweries are popping up across the Broads, bringing some of the best British beer right to our doorstep.

HUMPTY DUMPTY BREWERY, REEDHAM
Located in the pretty village of Reedham, in the heart of the Broads, Humpty Dumpty Brewery makes some of the best beers in the region. The brewery produces a wide range of ales as well as stouts and porters. Special editions are often produced in the summer months and during the festive season, ensuring there’s always something new for you to try.
If you want to sample some of Humpty Dumpty’s fine brews, you can take your pick from the bottles available in their shop in Reedham. Alternatively, visit the Humpty Dumpty Beer Festival in July, book a brewery tour or visit one of the many pubs in the local area.
WOODFORDE’S BREWERY, WOODBASTWICK
Woodforde’s is one of the best-known breweries in the region. Founded in the 1980s, it’s been producing prize ales for over 30 years. Take a tour around the brewery to find out more about the company, the brewing process and the beers that come off the production line. If you want to get an even better feel for these classic bitters, head to the on-site pub, the Fur and Feather, to sample brews straight from the tap.
THE BRIDGE INN, ACLE
If you’re out for a walk across the Broads, or if you’ve rented a boat for a day on the water, The Bridge Inn is the perfect place to stop for a well-earned drink. Located in the pretty village of Acle, if offers a crowd-pleasing menu, a children’s play area and a good selection of real ales. What’s more, pets are welcome too, so you can bring all the family along for your day out.
THE WAVENEY INN, THE WAVENEY RIVER CENTRE
Located inside The Waveney River Centre, the welcoming Waveney Inn pub serves up a selection of locally sourced food and regional ales. Moorings are available for guests travelling by boat or you can walk to the pub across the Broads.
