Head to the Coast

Norfolk is famous for its beautiful beaches, each of which has an entirely different seaside experience just waiting for you to discover. To make sure you don’t miss out on some of the very best on offer, we’ve put together a list of some of our top sandy spots for you to visit during your stay in Nelson’s County. Each of these beaches is a wonderful place to take a stroll, indulge in a picnic or just soak up the glorious Norfolk landscape!

Cromer

Known locally as ‘The Gem of the North Norfolk Coast’, Cromer has everything you would expect from a classic seaside town – a stunning pier, delicious fish and chips, plenty of amusements and a rich maritime history. No trip to Cromer is complete without sampling one of the world-famous Cromer crabs, so make sure you pick yourself up one (or two!). Why not set aside an afternoon for a trip to the End of The Pier Show, an afternoon in the fascinating Cromer Museum or a visit to many of the delightful shops filled with local treats!

Great Yarmouth

For your quintessential pleasure beach, look no further than Great Yarmouth. This iconic seaside destination has been entertaining holidaymakers for years, so why not find out for yourself exactly why! With so much to see in this traditional seaside destination, you’ll be spoilt for choice on your day out. No matter what you feel like doing, Great Yarmouth has something for everyone, from pleasure beach, museums, greyhound racing, a sea life centre to over 15 miles of sandy shores, you can explore and discover Great Yarmouth at your leisure.

Mundesley

Mundesley is a fantastic beach for a day out, with plenty of sand for you to find your spot and settle down for the day. There are a lot of activities on offer at Mundesley, should you fancy a spot of mini golf, boules or want to try your hand at some crabbing! This clean and sandy beach is a well-loved destination for locals and tourists alike, and if you want to find out more about the area head to Mundesley Maritime Museum (thought to be the world’s smallest museum). With a delightful promenade to stroll along, Mundesley makes the perfect beach destination.

Horsey

Horsey beach is one of Norfolk’s best-kept secrets. This unspoilt and serene expanse of sand is the perfect place for you to relax and unwind with some refreshing Norfolk sea air! If you happen to be visiting during the winter months, you might just be in with a chance of catching some of Horsey’s local residents – the seals! Other than a small café, this beach has been left largely untouched, which makes it a wonderfully tranquil option for some beach discovery.

Winterton

If soft dunes and golden sands sound like your idea of a perfect day, then Winterton is the beach for you! You also don’t have to abide by the tide, as no matter what the sea is doing, there will always be plenty of sand for you to walk on. If you’re looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of life, then this beautiful beach will have everything you need to immerse yourself in the coast’s natural beauty!
